I showed in an earlier post how I prepped a large sheet of watercolor paper with acrylic paint and dyes for a background, then cut the paper up and sewed it into an eight-page art journal. Well, I’ve been using that journal this week to do my art in.
It’s the first time I’ve used pre-prepped background pages like this, and I have to admit, I’m not liking it so much. The backgrounds are great, but when I made the journals this way, since it’s a single sheet of paper, it’s all the same colors – over, and over – page after page. Yes, I’m adding different elements each time, but still, they seem to all blend together.
I suppose that would be a really good thing if someone were doing a color journal, or they like to work in a specific color grouping – but for me, it seems to be a bit much.
Just something for you to think about in case you plan to do the same thing.
